Language Combination & Direction Confirmation

Candidates must select either the translator or interpreter path. The alternative path may be chosen after obtaining membership or if unsuccessful attempts have been made on the initial path; for instance, after attempting the Translator path, a candidate may opt for the Interpreter path first.
Candidates must specify whether they are translating from English into another language or from another language into English. This information is crucial for the prerequisite exams, as it determines which English proficiency exam you will be required to take. For this session, candidates have the option to take both English proficiency exams. The administration will deduce the reverse language combination for the second exam based on your initial choice of 'from' and 'to' languages indicated here. For the Interpreter Path, you will be required to take the Reading Comprehension for Interpreters English Proficiency Exam; however, we still need to know your language combination.
Please indicate your language preference, for example, French/English, which denotes FR>EN>FR. Upon passing the code of ethics and the reading comprehension exam for interpreters, and meeting the provided prerequisites, you may submit your application for each language pair separately to the ATIA.
