Certified Translator / Certified Interpreter: Have passed the national certification
process. They have successfully completed the certification exam set by the Canadian
Translators, Terminologists and Interpreter Council (CTTIC) or submitted a large body
of their work to an evaluation committee.
Associate Translator / Associate Interpreter: Translators with limited experience or
training that will complete the certification process in the future.

She holds a Law degree from Colombia where she practised Law for six years before coming to Canada, in 2005. She then worked as a paralegal for Imperial Oil for almost three years until she became a mom and decided to stay home. After a few years María joined ATIA as an associate translator and community interpreter.
She has translation experience (Spanish to English and English to Spanish) since 2016, translating documents from/to various Latin American countries and Spain, like the following:

María has community interpretation experience since 2018, mostly in the education field through the Calgary Board of Education and the Calgary Catholic School District.
She has done volunteer work for the Colombian Consulate in Calgary and for TEDx Talks.
