Hi. I'm Bayan, an independent English to Arabic translator. I have been working in translation since 2004. I have a BA in English Language and Literature from Damascus University and a post-graduate diploma in Interpreting from York University.
I specialize in medical and educational translations.
For the medical and healthcare translation, I’ve translated patient literature, general information about medical conditions, diagnosis, treatments, and prevention, with a focus on oncology.
For education, I’ve translated IEPs and IPPs (individualized Education Programs and Individual Program Plans) reports/ assessments, in addition to educational research papers.
Some other fields that don’t necessarily require extensive experience: politics (over 1 million words), general legal documents (immigration documents and corporate documents, 350,000 words), training for compliance officers/ anti-money laundering/ counter financing of terrorism (80,000 words).
I also have experience in transcription (Standard Arabic and Levantine).
