I am an accomplished professional with over a decade of experience in translation and interpreting. I hold a bachelor’s degree from the University of Manchester in the UK and am an Associate Member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Alberta (ATIA).
Since 2012, I have provided translation and interpreting services for a diverse range of clients, including international organizations such as the United Nations. My work has encompassed a wide range of documents, including personal, technical, financial, marketing, and legal texts, as well as reports, policy papers, articles, studies, presentations, and research articles.
In my current role with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), I am the focal point for translation within the entire Libya operation. I regularly translate reports and updates, and I provide translations as needed to different units, including official correspondences, government resolutions and decrees, news updates, contracts, and other documents. My interpreting responsibilities include simultaneous and consecutive interpreting in various settings such as high-level meetings between senior management and government officials, press conferences, workshops, and interviews with refugees and asylum-seekers. My responsibilities also include providing transcriptions and subtitling.
From 2014 to 2018, I worked as an English as a Second Language teacher in Tripoli, Libya, where I taught adult students and prepared engaging, student-centred lessons. My teaching qualifications include the University of Cambridge’s CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) and the Teaching Knowledge Test (TKT).
