Wayne Jackson is a nêhiyaw language speaker who was raised on the Goodfish Lake First Nation in Treaty Six territory in northeastern Alberta. He has taught nêhiyawêwin for the St. Paul School Division in the 1990s and 2000s and is currently an instructor and team lead for the Bachelor of Arts in nêhiyawêwin at University nuxełhot’įne thaaɁehots’į nistameyimâkanak Blue Quills.
Wayne has also worked for Alberta Education as a curriculum developer for nêhiyawêwin and as an Indigenous Language Consultant.
Wayne strength as a translator is that he fluidly reads and writes in Standard Roman Orthography and also has the ability to read and write in syllabics.
