Aida’s Bio:
Experienced English – Russian Translator and Associate Member of the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Alberta (ATIA) with over 10 years of progressive experience in interpretation and translation. Licensed Community Interpreter Trainer (TCIT) who has successfully trained and mentored over 100 professional interpreters and translators since 2020, and has provided instruction on a range of essential topics, including preparation for the interpreter proficiency test, community interpreter ethics and protocols, basic translation techniques, formatting, editing, proofreading, and an introduction to CAT tools.
This workshop is primarily designed for novice translators who are looking to deepen their understanding of the dos and don’ts of legal translation. It also offers valuable insights for experienced practitioners interested in refining their approach or refreshing their knowledge.
This 90-minute session will include:
- Common transfer problems: culture-specific terminology, proper names, date/calendar formats, etc.
- Effective use of templates and adherence to formatting requirements
- Practical guidelines for revision and proofreading
